Already registered your dog? This page covers renewing each year and telling us when something changes.
Dog registrations expire on 30 June each year. To renew, pay using the reference number and payment details on your renewal notice.

Renewing your registration
We send renewal notices to owners of registered dogs as a courtesy before the due date.
It’s your responsibility to pay on time, even if you don’t receive a notice.
Your notice includes a reference number and payment options, such as online, by phone, or in person at Council’s Customer Service Centre.
Lost your notice or didn’t get one? Contact Council for a replacement.
For current fees, see the Fees and Charges page.
Keeping your details up to date
Tell us within 14 days if:
- you move house, permanently or for more than 60 days
- your contact details change
- you’re no longer the dog’s owner
- your dog dies, is lost, stolen or permanently removed
- your dog is desexed.
Moving to or from another council area? Tell both councils within 14 days. Your dog must be registered with your new local council.
How we use your information
We keep your dog’s details (name, age, sex, breed, colour, registration class and microchip number) and your contact details (name, date of birth, address, phone and email).
We use them to identify your dog and contact you if it’s found, impounded or involved in an incident, and to send registration reminders. We handle your information in line with privacy legislation.
