The Huon Valley’s new citizens

Twelve members of the Huon Valley community were welcomed into Australian citizenship on Wednesday at an official ceremony held at the Ranelagh Soldiers Memorial Hall.

We were pleased to have Huon Valley Councillors, Nic Street MP, Dean Winter MP, and staff representing Senator Catryna Bilyk, Senator Eric Abetz and Bastian Seidel MLC join us to congratulate and welcome the conferees.

In recognition of this important day, the citizens were presented with a 2021 Australian Citizenship coin and an Australian native plant.

“Our newest citizens originate from ten countries around the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, Brazil, Taiwan and South Africa,” Cr Doyle said.

“Congratulations on your decision to take the pledge of commitment to Australia. We are delighted you have chosen to call the Huon Valley home. Thank you for helping to make the Huon a positive and enriching place to live.”
