Sue Clark joins the Huon Valley Council as Councillor

The Huon Valley Council is pleased to announce that Sue Clark has joined our Council as a Councillor.

Cr Clark joins the Council following the departure of Mike Wilson and a recount to fill the vacancy. Cr Clark’s oath of office and induction took place this week.

“On behalf of councillors, staff and our community, the Huon Valley Council warmly welcomes Cr Clark to the role of Councillor,” said Huon Valley Council Mayor Enders.

“We will work with Cr Clark to get her up to speed, as soon as practical, of the activities, projects and programs of Council that have been endorsed by the Council since November 2018.” This briefing program also includes councillor inductions to ensure that Cr Clark has the support mechanisms at her disposal and set her up for success.

“Thank you to my family and friends who encouraged me to take up this position,” Cr Clark said. “My aim is to be the voice of the older residents of the Huon Valley.”

Cr Clark served on the Huon Valley Council from 1993 to 2000, just after the three Huon councils amalgamated. She was the only female councillor at that time, and served on the Aged Care and Housing Advisory Committee and was on the Executive of Council.

“I am passionate about the Huon Valley and the diversity of the community and can see the area growing rapidly”

Cr Clark ran her own real estate business in 1997 and opened several offices in the Huon Valley and Kingston.

Cr Clark has always been involved in local sporting bodies both as a competitor and in management. She is currently President of the Huon Valley Golf Club.

“I am passionate about the Huon Valley and the diversity of the community and can see the area growing rapidly,” Cr Clark said. “I would love to see more money spent on health, housing, roads and footpaths.

“There are many more issues that I think need addressing and I look forward to working with councillors and staff for the coming 12 months.”

The Huon Valley Councillors and staff look forward to working with Sue to service and support our community and move towards the vision and goals that we share for the Huon Valley.
