Plan to reopen Huon Valley recreational spaces and facilities safely

In line with the State Government’s staged plan to ease restrictions, the Huon Valley Council is undertaking a number of protective measures to make sure our recreational spaces and facilities are safe for community use when they re-open. The safety of our community and council staff is the highest priority.

Recreation spaces such as sporting grounds, playgrounds and skate parks will all be open for gatherings of up to 10 people from Monday 18 May 2020. Physical distancing must be maintained at all times. Playgrounds and skate parks will have signage installed advising how people can safely use the space in accordance with Public Health guidelines.

Community members should follow this advice to the best of their ability and move on from the area once you have finished.

Sporting grounds will be open for community exercise and boot camp use, also for up to 10 people with physical distancing, however no formal sports are able to be played.

Plans are being made for the re-opening of other facilities such as swimming pools, tennis courts and sports centres, as well as the Reuse Shop and Customer Service Centre. An update on the Huon Valley Council roadmap to reopening will be available on the Council website and Facebook page on Wednesday 20 May 2020.
