Huon Valley Council has launched a new-look to our grants program that brings together its existing funding streams into a single, streamlined fund designed to help local communities thrive.
The Community Liveability Fund opens for applications on Monday, 13 April 2026, offering grants of up to $10,000 for projects that strengthen the social, cultural, environmental, and economic wellbeing of the Huon Valley. The new fund consolidates Council’s previous Community, Creative, and Natural Resource Management (NRM) Grants, the Community Support Fund, and the Climate Change Research Grant into one unified program — making it simpler for community members to apply for support.
“I’m incredibly proud of what makes the Huon Valley special — our landscapes, our people, and the way our communities look out for one another. The Community Liveability Fund is Council’s way of investing in that spirit. We want to see local ideas turned into local action, and I encourage everyone — individuals, groups, businesses and organisations — to think about how they could contribute and put in an application.” Mayor Sally Doyle said.
Funding is available across four streams — Social Wellbeing, Cultural, Environment, and Economy — and is open to individuals, community groups, not-for-profit organisations, incorporated associations, social enterprises, businesses, and educational institutions. Cash grants of up to $3,000 are available for community projects, with up to $10,000 available for exceptional projects that demonstrate substantial community benefit, innovation, and alignment with multiple liveability objectives.
