The last day of operation for the Geeveston Waste Transfer Station (WTS) will be 2 April 2023.

Why is it closing?

Use at the Geeveston WTS has been in decline, with the cost of running the site high and staff amenities that would require significant investment to meet our standards. Council would also like to undertake more work to manage the environmental impacts of the historic landfill on the site.

What is Council doing?

To offset impacts to the service, Southbridge WTS in Huonville will be opening extended hours with additional staffing and the kerbside service will be extending to additional areas in Geeveston and surrounds. Council will also be investigating alternative uses for the site.

If you have any questions about the closure of Geeveston WTS, the Manager Environmental Services will be available at two drop-in session.
