Huon Valley Council is sharing the following update from TasWater regarding upcoming works at Shipwrights Point.
As part of the Geeveston Effluent Outfall Relocation Project, TasWater will begin constructing a new sewer pipeline between Shipwrights Point and Geeveston Sewage Treatment Plant. This work is the next stage in connecting the recently completed outfall at Shipwrights Point to the future upgraded Geeveston Sewage Plant, helping to deliver improved environmental outcomes for the Huon River.
Works are expected to start on Monday 27 July 2026 and run until approximately February 2027 (weather/site dependent).
Work hours are Monday to Friday 7am–5pm and Saturday 8am–1pm. Occasional night works may occur for final road resurfacing.
Community impacts:
- Increased traffic from crews, trucks and machinery
- Temporary single-lane traffic arrangements and reduced speed limits
- Minor travel delays
- Temporary property access changes where required (affected owners will be contacted directly)
- Coordination with Sacred Heart School around student drop-off/pick-up and bus movements
If you are traveling through the area, please allow additional travel time and follow all signage and directions from traffic controllers.
