Huon Valley Council is offering a free scrap metal drop-off at Southbridge (Huonville) and Cygnet Waste Transfer Stations this June. This service gives residents an easy way to recycle unwanted metal items and help reduce landfill.
When: Saturday 13 June – Sunday 21 June
Available at Southbridge (Huonville) and Cygnet Waste Transfer Stations only.
What you can drop off
- Whitegoods (e.g. fridges, washing machines)
- Tools, bikes, and other scrap metal items
- Car bodies
Please note that fridges and air conditioners will incur a fee of $10 for degassing.
Who can use this service
This free service is available to Huon Valley residents and local businesses. Please note it is not available for commercial collection service operators.

Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 4:00pm
Saturday and Sunday – 10:00am to 4:00pm
Cygnet
Wednesday – 12:00pm to 4:00pm
Saturday and Sunday – 10:00am to 4:00pm
