Are you a young Tasmanian looking to develop your leadership skills and make your voice heard? Applications are now open for the 2026 Tasmanian Youth Parliament – a fantastic week-long residential program for students in Grades 10 to 13.
Youth Parliament gives young people a unique opportunity to build their advocacy skills, deepen their understanding of democratic processes, and explore current social, political and economic issues. Throughout the week, participants will take part in educational workshops, speaker panels, policy development exercises, social activities, and debates on bills that the students themselves have drafted and later presented to the Tasmanian Parliament.
Prior to the main event, there are online bill drafting days on 18 and 19 April 2026 – participants are only required to attend one day.
Financial assistance is available for students who may not otherwise be able to attend due to financial barriers, and the team are also happy to discuss other ways to make the program more accessible. Youth Parliament is an inclusive program for all.
Parental or guardian permission is required to participate.
