A Christmas message from Mayor Doyle

I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a safe and merry Christmas.

It’s the time of the year where we may indulge a little too much in the Christmas cheer with our family and friends… So just loosen that belt and enjoy!

Christmas Day and the holiday period especially, can mean many miles on the road travelling to-and-fro between families. If that is you this year, please take extra care to stay attentive, stop to stretch your legs and let the kids and dogs run off some energy.

We should also take some time to remember the many people around us who will not be spending meaningful time with family and friends this year due to many different reasons. Let’s make sure we show them the Huon Valley spirit, it really can change someone’s day.

I’d like to thank the staff of Huon Valley Council for their hard work this year. As councillors, we recognise that the decisions we make affect staff, so we will endeavour to support the great work they are doing.

Last but not least, I would like to congratulate the 8 new councillors who have been thrown into inductions, workshops and council meetings in their first 2 months. It’s not an easy task and they have shown great comradery. I can see the next 4 years are going to be full-on with exciting things happening.

So once again, stay safe, have a great break and I look forward to working with and serving you all in 2023!
