Moving towards a plastic-free future

The program follows an announcement by the Tasmanian Government of a proposed ban on key single-use plastic items by 2025.

“Huon Valley Council is pleased to be endorsing this program, as it provides practical solutions and advice to help protect our environment and prepare for regulatory changes in packaging,” Huon Valley Council Mayor Sally Doyle said.

Plastic Free Places Program Coordinator Dan Broun and his team will be available to work directly with businesses in the Huon Valley, looking at what they are currently using, discussing available alternatives, helping to reduce ongoing packaging costs and offering free promotion.

The program has been rolled out in 20 communities across Australia and has helped those local businesses eliminate over 15 million pieces of single use plastic.
