Overview

Set on a working farm in Tasmania’s Huon Valley, The Barn offers a refined rural escape where comfort, nature and authentic farm life come together. Guests are welcomed into a peaceful landscape of orchards, paddocks and open skies, with space to slow down and truly unwind.

All guests are invited to take part in feeding our friendly farm animals. We are home to a varied range of animals, many of whom happily eat from your hand — including our gentle Highland cows, who can never resist a fresh apple. This hands-on experience is loved by guests of all ages and is entirely optional.

A relaxed farm tour is offered on the afternoon of arrival, providing an introduction to the animals, the land and the rhythm of the farm. Guests are then welcome to continue feeding the animals on following days at their own pace. Buckets of feed are provided free of charge. The farm encourages exploration. Wander through the orchards, collect fresh eggs, pick apples or berries in season, discover fossils on the property or simply enjoy a quiet stroll. Fishing rods are available, with excellent fishing spots nearby, and the secluded beaches around Cygnet are only a short drive away.

The Barn itself blends rustic charm with thoughtful comforts, offering a warm and inviting place to return to after a day outdoors. Whether you’re seeking connection, rest or a gentle adventure, The Barn offers a stay that feels personal, grounding and quietly special.
