Overview
Huon Valley Backpackers (“Balfes Hill”) is a farm-based backpacker hostel in Cradoc, offering views over the Huon River and the mountains of the South West Wilderness World Heritage Area. It’s situated in the heart of the Huon Valley’s fruit-growing district, around 45 minutes south of Hobart.
The property offers double rooms, family rooms with ensuites, and twin rooms, along with a games room (pool table, table tennis and darts), a TV lounge, a shop for essentials, and internet access. It’s a good base for visiting the Tahune Air Walk, Hartz Mountains, Arve Valley and the D’Entrecasteaux Channel. Motorhomes and campervans are welcome, and pick-up to the Cygnet bus service can be arranged.
