Overview
The Cygnet Living History Museum (CLHM) is a not-for-profit, charitable organisation serving communities in the Cygnet region of the Huon Valley.
The museum displays, exhibits, collects, classifies, research, conserves and shares the history of the area, its inhabitants and activities, past and present. The museum is accessible and inclusive, fosters diversity and sustainability and is open to the public most days of the year or by appointment.
Visitors can access information for research, education, enjoyment, reflection and knowledge sharing. The archives include information on the settlement and establishment of the region, family histories and historic buildings, wooden boat building, timber, mining and other industries, apple and folk festivals, the convict era and probation stations, as well as fossils, minerals, geology and geophysics. The museum is centrally located in the Cygnet township, housed in an historic church building.
The museum is always seeking new volunteers and members.
