Smoother Movers Strength Training Program – Geeveston
Residents of Geeveston and the surrounding Huon Valley area can now access this program locally. Research and best practice guidelines recommend that people living with arthritis engage in land-based strength exercises at least twice per week. While many people worry that exercise may worsen their condition, with the right approach and appropriate supervision, strength training is in fact one of the most effective ways to maintain mobility, build and retain strength, and manage arthritis symptoms.
The Smoother Movers Strength Training Program incorporates balance, endurance, flexibility and strength-based exercises, all of which can be modified to suit your individual fitness level, medical history and personal goals. Classes run for approximately 45 minutes to one hour.
Benefits of the program may include:
- Improved condition management and decreased pain
- Increased mobility and overall fitness
- Improved strength
- Social connection with class peers in the local Geeveston community
- Regained or built confidence in a motivating, supportive and friendly environment
