Get outside and help Huon Valley take the lead in this year’s Biodiversity Blitz
To celebrate Biodiversity Month, Huon Valley Council is teaming up with Clarence City, Hobart, Kingborough, Tasman and Glenorchy councils for a friendly Biodiversity Blitz. It’s simple: snap a photo of any plant, animal or fungus you spot around the Huon Valley and upload it using the free iNaturalist app. Every sighting logged during the Blitz counts towards our region’s tally in the competition — and helps build a clearer picture of Tasmania’s natural environment along the way.
📅 When: Tuesday 15 – Wednesday 30 September 2026
⏰ Time: Ongoing throughout the period — log sightings any time you’re out and about
📌 Where: Anywhere in the Huon Valley

How to get involved:
- Download the free iNaturalist app or visit inaturalist.org
- Record any plant, animal or fungus you spot around the Huon Valley during the Blitz
- Your records are automatically counted towards the Huon Valley’s tally
Observations recorded during the Blitz feed into Tasmania’s Natural Values Database, helping inform environmental decision-making across the state.
