Nominations are now open for the 2027 Huon Valley Community Achievement Awards, celebrating local volunteers and community members for their contributions to our region.
The awards shine a spotlight on the remarkable people who make our community stronger, kinder and more connected. Anyone can nominate an individual or group making a difference in the Huon Valley, and nominations close on Monday 25 January 2027.
Huon Valley Mayor Sally Doyle said the awards are a chance for the whole community to say thank you.
“Right across the Huon Valley, people give their time and skills to help others. They coach junior sport, care for our environment, support neighbours in need and keep our local clubs and events running,” Mayor Doyle said.
“Some of the people making a difference are just starting out, and others have been giving back for decades. Some work quietly on their own, and others are part of a club or group that holds a community together. These awards are for all of them.”
“If you know someone who goes above and beyond, I encourage you to take a few minutes to nominate them.”
Award categories are Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Achievement Award, Young Achievement Award, Excellence in a Chosen Field, and Volunteer Service Awards for under 10 years, 10 to 20 years and over 20 years of service.
Recipients will be notified in April 2027 and celebrated at a ceremony on Saturday 22 May 2027, during National Volunteer Week.
“The ceremony is a wonderful time to celebrate what volunteers bring to our community, and I hope it encourages more people to get involved locally,” Mayor Doyle said.
