Dirt road surrounded by lush greenery, leading to a scenic view of a lake and distant hills under a cloudy sky. Tall trees frame the foreground, and rolling fields stretch towards the water.

Welcome to

the Huon Valley

The Huon Valley Council is the southernmost local government area in Australia. The main townships are Huonville, Franklin, Cygnet, Geeveston and Dover.
A woman sits on an exam table, smiling and talking with a healthcare professional in a white coat inside a medical office with health posters on the wall.

Women's Health
Clinic opens

A new monthly clinic at Geeveston Medical Centre offers longer appointments for reproductive and women's health care. All-female team, safe space. First clinic 27 March.
A scenic view of a rural valley with scattered houses and farms, green trees in the foreground, and layered blue mountains in the distance under a clear sky.

New housing
plans adopted

Council has adopted the Rural Living Densification Study and Huonville Precinct Structure Plan to guide where housing and growth can go, protect rural values, and support Huonville’s next 20 years.
