Dirt road surrounded by lush greenery, leading to a scenic view of a lake and distant hills under a cloudy sky. Tall trees frame the foreground, and rolling fields stretch towards the water.

Welcome to

the Huon Valley

The Huon Valley Council is the southernmost local government area in Australia. The main townships are Huonville, Franklin, Cygnet, Geeveston and Dover.

Cygnet's future:
have your say

The draft Cygnet Structure Plan is open for feedback. Shaped by 770 community voices, it outlines Cygnet's next 20 years. Complete the survey by 7 June or visit a drop-in session.
A small green plant with fresh leaves grows from dark soil, illuminated by soft sunlight against a blurred yellow-green background.

Environment grants
awarded

Three local conservation groups have received funding through Council's Environment Grant Program for coastal monitoring, vegetation surveys and habitat restoration work across the Huon Valley.
A gloved hand points to several hazardous material warning signs, including a red diamond for flammable liquid, a black and white corrosive label, and other caution symbols.

Free hazardous waste
drop-off

Safely dispose of old pesticides, chemicals and other hazardous household items for free on Saturday 23 May at Huonville or Dover. Details inside.

New community
grants

Council's new Community Liveability Fund opens 13 April, offering grants up to $10,000 for local projects across social, cultural, environmental and economic areas. Apply now!
Close-up of green leaves and clusters of small, yellowish-green flowers with long, thin stamens on a shrub. The flowers hang downward and appear to be in early bloom.

Spot karamu
weeds

Karamu, a Zone A weed, threatens Huon Valley's native forests and riverside areas. Help Council's NRM team by reporting any sightings before they spread further.
