On Monday, 24 November 2025, contractors began major accessibility and changeroom upgrades at the Port Huon Sports Centre. The works will deliver modern, welcoming facilities for all users, including fully compliant accessible toilets and showers and two new family changerooms.
The project is part of Council’s ongoing investment in high-quality, inclusive community infrastructure across the Huon Valley, supporting active participation for people of all ages and abilities.
Once complete (anticipated by late March 2026, weather permitting) the upgraded facilities will provide a more comfortable, safe and accessible experience for everyone using the Centre.
To allow the works to be completed safely and efficiently, the sauna and existing toilet and changeroom areas inside the Centre is closed to public use from 24 November 2025 until the project is finished. Portable toilets, including an accessible toilet, will be available outside the Centre for use during this period. The pool itself will remain open throughout the works.
Council acknowledges the temporary inconvenience to users and encourages swimmers to use the Huonville Pool where possible while works are underway. All current Port Huon pool memberships will be valid for the Huonville Pool for the duration of the project.
We appreciate the community’s support and patience while these important improvements are delivered and look forward to welcoming everyone back to enjoy the upgraded facilities in early 2026.
We will provide further updates about the project (including progress photos) on this page and social media as works continue.
