Huon Valley Council is providing new footpaths and infrastructure upgrades linking Ranelagh and Huonville and making daily journeys safer and easier for the community.

Mayor Sally Doyle said, “These infrastructure improvements are about creating safer, more connected communities where families can walk and catch public transport with confidence.”

Ms Janelle Reeves, Principal of Huonville High School, welcomed the completion of works around the school. “The difference these improvements have made to our school community is remarkable. Students, parents, and staff now have safer pedestrian access and improved parking facilities, which has significantly reduced congestion and safety concerns during peak school times.”

Huonville’s Wilmot Road now features a new footpath fronting the high school, plus additional parking, an extended bus bay, and stormwater improvements. The upgrades reduce congestion and boost safety for hundreds of students, parents, and staff during peak times.

The new footpath along Agnes Street Ranelagh and Wilmot Road Huonville fills a critical infrastructure gap by linking urban areas with safer access to shops, services, transport, and community facilities.

The improvements were funded through the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, demonstrating strong partnership between local and federal government to deliver lasting community benefits.
