With spring now underway, Council is once again carrying out essential maintenance across our parks, ovals and open spaces to ensure our community can continue to enjoy safe and high-quality parks and sporting grounds throughout the year.
Each year, additional care is taken during this season to prepare our grounds for summer sports. Between August and October, Council also undertakes its annual oval and field changeovers – transitioning playing surfaces from AFL and soccer to cricket and athletics.
Works will include:
- Tractors and other machinery on and around sports fields
- Spreading of sand, seed and fertiliser to improve turf quality
- Weed spraying
- Line marking and ground renovations where required
The duration of these works will vary depending on weather conditions and the specific needs of each ground, with timeframes ranging from two to eight weeks.
For your safety (and the safety of our workers), please follow the signage and avoid work areas while upgrades are in progress.
Council appreciates the community’s patience while these improvements are completed and looks forward to welcoming residents back onto fields that are refreshed and ready for play.
