A clear plastic bag filled with bright blue powder stands upright against a plain white background.

If you think you may have contaminated kinetic sand products in your home, please do not place these products in your household bin. Improper disposal of asbestos-contaminated materials can increase the risk of exposure to waste collection drivers and landfill operators.

Huon Valley Council waste transfer stations cannot accept asbestos. However, Southern Waste Solutions (SWS) will waive all disposal fees for any kinetic sand products suspected of containing asbestos, following the nation-wide recall of certain imported kinetic sand products.

If the product is already open, you should wear disposable gloves and a mask and either seal kinetic sand in its original tub or double bag it in heavy-duty plastic and seal it with tape before dropping it off.
