Huon Valley Achievement Award nominations are now open until 1 February 2026 in two streams: Community Achievement Awards and Service Awards. These awards recognise outstanding contributions, excellence in a chosen field, and dedicated volunteer service to the Huon Valley community.
Huon Valley Acting Mayor Toby Thorpe said the awards highlight the people who give so much to others. “Each year, we see incredible stories of kindness, commitment, and community spirit. The Achievement Awards are our chance to say thank you and acknowledge the people who make the Huon Valley flourish.
“Whether it’s supporting vulnerable residents, mentoring young people, or bringing neighbours together, the awards recognise those who make a lasting contribution to the wellbeing of the region,” Acting Mayor Thorpe said.
Following community consultation, we have made several updates to the nomination process and award categories to ensure they are more relevant to our community and streamline the overall process.
Recipients will be notified in April following a closed Council meeting in March. All nominees will be recognised at the Awards Ceremony on 23 May 2026, and an independent panel will select one recipient from each category: Community Achievement, Excellence in a Chosen Field, Volunteer Service (under 10 years), Major Volunteer Service (10 – 20 years), Lifetime Volunteer Service (over 20 years).
