The Huon Valley community is set to benefit from a brand-new ambulance station in Cygnet, with the project being delivered by Department of Health.
The new facility is one of four rural ambulance stations announced in 2024 as part of the Tasmanian Government’s plan to strengthen Ambulance Tasmania’s services and improve emergency care across the state.
Located at 48–52 Mary Street, Cygnet, the station will provide contemporary facilities for paramedics and volunteers and will improve response times for residents across the Huon and Channel areas. By bringing services closer to home for communities south of Huonville, the new Cygnet station will ensure better access to emergency care when it’s needed most.
Community drop-in session
A community drop-in session is planned to give residents the opportunity to:
- View the station design
- Meet the project team
- Ask questions and provide feedback
The session will be held on:
Date: Monday 22 September 2025
Time: 12:00pm–4:00pm (drop-in session)
Venue: Cygnet Town Hall, Mary Street, Cygnet
For those unable to attend in person, the project design and information will also be on display at the Huon Valley Council offices and at Cygnet Library during opening hours from Monday 22 September until Tuesday 7 October 2025.
A Development Application for the new ambulance station is expected to be submitted to Huon Valley Council in October 2025.
This new station is an exciting step forward for the Huon Valley community, ensuring stronger and more responsive ambulance services well into the future.
