The Huon Valley Council hosted a Citizenship Ceremony on Friday, 20 June 2025, welcoming 12 new Australian citizens to our community. 

The ceremony was officiated by Mayor Sally Doyle with Chief Executive Officer Lachlan Kranz serving as Master of Ceremonies. 

The special occasion saw new citizens from Iran, Philippines, Austria, Germany, Ireland, and the United Kingdom take the Australian Citizenship Pledge and officially join the Australian community in the heart of the Huon Valley. 

The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests including Senator, The Hon. Catryna Bilyk, who delivered the Minister’s Message; Minister Hon Jacquie Petrusma MP, who presented gifts to the new citizens; Mr Nic Street MP, Representative of the Office of The Hon. Dean Winter MP, Mr David O’Byrne, The Hon. Dean Harriss MLC. 

Mayor Sally Doyle said, “We were delighted to welcome these 12 new citizens to our community. The Huon Valley is enriched by the diversity and contribution of people from many different backgrounds, and it was wonderful to celebrate this significant milestone with our newest Australians.” 

“Becoming an Australian citizen is a momentous occasion, and we were honoured to be part of this important journey for these individuals and families as they officially joined our local community,” Mayor Sally Doyle continued. 

The ceremony represented the final step in the citizenship journey for these new Australians, who have chosen to make the Huon Valley their home and contribute to our vibrant community.
