Following months of community consultation and analysis, Huon Valley Council is inviting residents to hear the results of the Great Wheelie Bin Survey at a special community information session on waste.
Council received a record-breaking response, with more than 1,300 survey participants—a clear sign of how passionate our community is about responsible waste management.
The comprehensive survey explored residents’ views on Council’s current waste services, demand for expanded kerbside collections, home composting, and support for kerbside collections of Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO).
Mayor Sally Doyle said “The response to our Great Wheelie Bin Survey has been fantastic, and we’re excited to share what our community has told us. This feedback will help shape the future of waste management in our area, ensuring we deliver services that truly meet our residents’ needs.”
This event isn’t just about hearing the survey results—it’s a fun, engaging opportunity for residents to ask questions, share ideas, and see how their feedback is shaping real change through Council’s Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery (WARR) Strategy. Attendees will also get the inside scoop on Recycle Rewards, Tasmania’s 10c container refund scheme.
The WARR Strategy sets out Council’s commitment to reducing waste generation, increasing resource recovery, providing fair and efficient waste services, and minimising environmental impacts for a more liveable Huon Valley.
Don’t miss out—spaces are limited! The first 60 people to RSVP will secure their spot at this special event. Survey results and presentation materials will also be available online after the event for those unable to attend.
