Play a vital role in educating and engaging with the community to support positive compliance across our beautiful municipal area.

  • Compliance role, including animal management, infrastructure protection and parking enforcement
  • Permanent Full-time position ($79,071 per annum starting wage plus and on-call allowance)
  • 15% employer superannuation
  • Commuter use of a Council vehicle while undertaking on-call duties.

The Role

As the Municipal Inspector you will:

  • Promote compliance through education and community engagement as the primary approach
  • Provide timely, courteous advice to community members on legislative and by-law requirements
  • Manage animal control duties including dog registrations, permits, and pound keeping responsibilities
  • Conduct patrols and inspections across the municipal area with a focus on education before enforcement
  • Investigate and resolve compliance matters fairly and equitably, using enforcement only when necessary
  • Participate in educational campaigns to increase community awareness of compliance requirements

Skills & Experience

The successful applicant will have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Excellent time management skills with ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Strong written communication skills and ability to interpret and apply legislation and by-laws
  • Confidence and, ideally, experience dealing with animals, particularly livestock and dogs
  • Proficiency in computerised systems, including Microsoft 365, records management and GIS systems
