The wait is over – the Huonville Pool re‑opens on Saturday, 8 November, ready for another vibrant summer of swimming, fun and community connection.
Acting Mayor Toby Thorpe said the new season promises plenty to look forward to.
“Our local pools and sports facilities play a vital role in the wellbeing of our community,” Acting Mayor Thorpe said. “The Huonville Pool and Port Huon Sports Centre provide accessible, safe and welcoming spaces for families to come together, for children to learn lifelong water safety skills, and for residents of all ages to stay active and connected.”
Whether you’re just starting out or keen to build your confidence in the water, there’s a swim program to suit everyone at Huonville Pool. The six‑week after‑school program for term 4 kicks off on 10 November, running until 19 December. For those looking for a quick boost, two 10‑day intensives will run in January (5–16 and 19–30).
Term 1 2026 will bring an eight‑week after‑school program from 9 February to 3 April. Enrolment forms are available now on our website: www.huonvalley.tas.gov.au/facility/huonville-swimming-pool/#at-70131
Visitors will also notice a few exciting changes this year. A new online booking and payment system is being rolled out at both the Huonville Swimming Pool and the Port Huon Sports Centre, allowing people to book classes, purchase memberships, and make payments quickly and easily online.
To celebrate the start of the season, the Port Huon Sports Centre has also had a mini makeover, featuring a freshly painted façade and a new sign to welcome swimmers and spectators alike.
“These upgrades and programs mean our residents can continue to enjoy safe, high‑quality facilities close to home. It’s wonderful to see both venues looking fantastic and ready for another busy season,” said Acting Mayor Thorpe.
It’s shaping up to be a great season ahead, with plenty of opportunities for the community to get involved, stay active, and enjoy the wonderful local facilities.
