The Huon Valley Council hosted a Citizenship Ceremony on 29 January, welcoming 21 new Australian citizens to our community.

New citizens from the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, India, South Africa, Indonesia, Germany, Hong Kong, and the United States took the Australian Citizenship Pledge and officially joined the Australian community in the heart of the Huon Valley.

The cohort included five citizens from the Philippines, five from the UK, three from Germany, two from Hong Kong, and one each from the UAE, Thailand, India, South Africa, Indonesia, and the USA.

Distinguished guests in attendance included The Hon. Julie Collins MP, Senator Claire Chandler, The Hon. Jacquie Petrusma MP, The Hon. Eric Abetz MP, Dr Rosalie Woodruff MP, David O’Byrne MP, and The Hon. Dean Harriss MLC.

The ceremony marked a significant achievement for each of the new citizens, celebrating their dedication to becoming part of the Australian community and their connection to the Huon Valley.
