The Huon Valley Council hosted a Citizenship Ceremony on 21 October, welcoming 12 new Australian citizens to our community.
The ceremony was officiated by Acting Mayor Toby Thorpe, with Chief Executive Officer Lachlan Kranz serving as Master of Ceremonies.
New citizens from Iran, Northern Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Nepal, France, Germany, and Vietnam took the Australian Citizenship Pledge and officially joined the Australian community in the heart of the Huon Valley.
Distinguished guests in attendance included David O’Byrne MP, Independent Member for Franklin (who was also a gift giver at the ceremony); The Hon. Dean Harriss MLC, Independent Member for Huon; and councillor Lukas Mrosek.
Acting Mayor Toby Thorpe said, “It was a privilege to welcome these 12 new citizens to the Huon Valley. Our region continues to be enriched by the diversity and contributions of people from across the world.”
“Becoming an Australian citizen is a proud and meaningful milestone, and we were thrilled to share in this important moment as our newest Australians officially joined our community,” he added.
The ceremony marked the culmination of each participant’s citizenship journey and celebrated their commitment to make the Huon Valley their home.
