We’re taking the first step in shaping what’s ahead, and it starts with your voice. The Huonville Residential and Commercial Precinct Draft Structure Plan is now open for public consultation. Residents, property owners, businesses and the broader community – this is where your vision for Huonville begins to take shape. Together, we’ll embark on a collaborative journey to create the community we all want to call home.
Forecasts show Huonville is projected to grow faster than the Tasmanian average, with up to 5,000 new residents expected in the region by 2053.
The Structure Plan will guide residential and commercial development in Huonville over the next 20 years. This Plan will update zoning to ensure that Huonville grows in a smart and sustainable way with affordable housing, improved infrastructure, vibrant open spaces, busy shops, and modern streets to meet the needs of a growing and evolving community whilst keeping the unique character of the town.
“This Plan is about smart growth for Huonville – protecting what makes our town unique while embracing the future.” Mayor Sally Doyle said. “We want Huonville to grow without losing the character and lifestyle we all cherish. Whether you have lived here for decades, recently moved, or run a business, your voice matters. Together, we can shape a strong and sustainable future for our whole community”.
