Council is seeking community feedback on the proposed relocation of the Franklin Cenotaph to the Village Green. The relocation aims to ensure the memorial remains a safe and accessible place for the community to gather and honour those who have served, as its current site near the Huon Highway presents safety concerns during commemorative events.
Council is applying for funding through the Saluting Their Service Commemorative Grants Program to support this important project, with a proposed budget of $80,000 to $90,000.
Community members are invited to attend a Drop‑in Session at the Franklin Village Green on Saturday 13 December 2025 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, where Council staff will be on hand to discuss the project and share proposed design ideas. A free sausage sizzle will be provided.
Feedback is welcome on potential site options within the Village Green, as well as ideas for additional features such as seating, pathways, and gardens to enhance the memorial space.
Consultation will remain open until Monday 5 January 2026.
