The Huon Valley Council is sharing the following update from TasWater regarding upcoming works at Shipwrights Point.

From early November 2025, TasWater will begin works for the Geeveston Outfall Relocation Project, which will see the existing outfall from the Geeveston Sewage Treatment Plant moved from the Kermandie River to deeper waters in the Huon River. This relocation is designed to improve water quality and provide stronger environmental protection for the region.

A temporary work site will be set up near the Yacht Club slipway, away from main public areas at the Regatta Ground. Access to the Regatta Ground, Yacht Club slipway, and neighbouring facilities will remain open throughout construction. TasWater has advised that the project is not expected to cause any disruptions to public access, although noise levels may vary depending on the work underway. Noise mitigation measures and monitoring will be in place.

Once this stage is complete, TasWater will begin constructing a new pipeline between the treatment plant and Shipwrights Point in early 2026.

Council appreciates the community’s patience as this important upgrade is delivered to support the health of our local waterways.
