Huon Valley Council is offering a free scrap metal drop-off at Southbridge and Cygnet Waste Transfer Stations this October. This service gives residents an easy way to recycle unwanted metal items and help reduce landfill.

Saturday 18 October – Sunday 26 October 2025

What can be dropped off

  • Whitegoods (fridges, washing machines, ovens)
  • Metal bikes, tools, pipes, and frames
  • Car bodies
  • Other items made mostly of scrap metal

Where and when

Southbridge (Huonville)

  • Monday to Friday – 8:30am to 4:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday – 10:00am to 4:00pm

Cygnet

  • Wednesday – 12:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Saturday and Sunday – 10:00am to 4:00pm

Who can use the service

  • Free for Huon Valley residential customers and businesses.
  • Commercial collection service operators are not eligible.
