The Huon Valley Council and Dover Medical Centre have expressed heartfelt gratitude for a generous $44,000 donation from the Raminea Hall Committee, marking a milestone in community support.

For 22 years, the Raminea Hall Committee has distributed funds from the sale of their community hall (previously owned and operated independently from Council) to support worthy local causes. In their final gift, the committee has ensured the funds will make a lasting impact on the Dover community by enabling the purchase of important equipment for the Dover Medical Centre.

The donation has funded two ultrasound machines, two dermatoscopes for skin checks, a blood and sample collection chair, ear, nose and throat (ENT) equipment, specialised ear and eye examination devices, and “BUZZY” – a small vibrating bee with blue ice-pack wings designed to distract and comfort children during immunisations.

Mayor Sally Doyle said the equipment will greatly improve local services.

“On behalf of the Huon Valley Council, the Dover Medical Centre, and the Dover community, I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Raminea Hall Committee for their generous donation towards significant medical equipment.

“This wonderful act of generosity will not only help to improve the health and wellbeing of the Dover community but will also save residents from having to travel long distances to Kingston and Hobart for treatment of minor medical issues,” she said.
