Huon Valley Council has completed renovations to the front rooms of Cygnet Town Hall, creating flexible community spaces available for hire.

The three newly renovated rooms — the historic Police Room, Magistrates Office and Court Room — have been carefully restored to preserve their heritage character and open them to broader community use. This project is the direct result of extensive community consultation conducted in 2023-2024.

“The community told us they wanted access to welcoming spaces that support a variety of uses, and these beautifully restored rooms are exactly what they asked for,” said Mayor Sally Doyle. “We’re excited to see how local groups and residents will use these spaces to bring the community together.”

Council is keen to hear directly from potential hirers about how these spaces might be used. The community is invited to share their vision by providing a submission form at www.bit.ly/cygnettownhallform

Potential hirers are also invited to email halls@huonvalley.tas.gov.au  if they would like to tour the rooms to support their feedback.

Renovations to the ground floor kitchenette and communal storeroom will soon commence as part of Stage 2 works. Stage 3 will include alterations to the upstairs Supper Room and Kitchen. Current hirers can rest assured that we’ll work closely with you to provide accommodation in the downstairs spaces during this phase.
