Our planning follows a clear hierarchy where each level builds on the one above, ensuring everything connects back to what the community wants for the Huon Valley’s future.

Community-created vision for the Huon Valley’s future
The Huon Valley community created the Community Vision in 2023 to express their needs and aspirations. This community-owned document guides all Council decisions, budget priorities, and Strategic Plans.
Strategic Plan 2024-2034 (HOW we’ll get there)
5 strategic goals that guide our progress over 10 years
Responds to the Community Vision through 5 Strategic Goals. Also establishes the different roles Council takes – as service provider, regulator, facilitator, or advocate – depending on responsibility for delivery.
Term Plan 2023-2027 (Councillor priorities)
Aligns with Councillor’s 4-year term and guides budget priorities
Assists Councillors to set their priorities in alignment with the Vision and guides the prioritisation of Annual Plan actions and budgets over the 4-year term.
Annual Plan (This year’s key actions)
Specific actions and budgets for the next 12 months
Identifies key actions to be undertaken in the next 12 months to progress the Vision. Key actions are in addition to everyday business operations.
Operational Plans (Daily service delivery)
Detailed approach to everyday services plus annual key actions
Departmental and Operational Plans contain the detailed approach to everyday service delivery as well as specific key annual actions.
