Huon Valley Youth Writers’ Group 2024

Unleash your creativity and dive into the world of fiction with our workshops for young writers!

Connect with like-minded individuals, forge new friendships, and embark on your writing journey in a nurturing environment.

Open to young writers under 24 these workshops feature interviews with guest authors or dynamic presentations on essential fiction elements, and/or engaging exercises to enhance your storytelling skills.

Explore fantasy, crime, mystery, and science fiction – fuel your passion and transform your ideas into captivating stories!

For our younger participants, parents are welcome to attend the sessions.

The program is organised jointly by Terror Australis Readers and Writers Festival, Huonville Library, and Huon Valley Council.

This Rising Tiger program is supported by Arts Tasmania.

Schedule – Meeting once a month on Thursdays, 3:30pm to 5:30pm
Peach Room, Huonville Library

Topics include writing fantasy, crime and mystery, and science fiction and scriptwriting.

8 August – Writing Fantasy 2 – Developing your story world’s unique feature

12 September – Characters 4 – Villains

17 October – Writing Science Fiction 1 – Science fiction fundamentals

14 November – End of year celebration

*It is okay to arrive late. We know many school buses arrive in Huonville around 4 pm*

• No food or drink of any sort is allowed in the room/sessions, apart from water. This is to make the room safe for people with certain allergies.
