Huon Valley Council farewells General Manager Emilio Reale

The Huon Valley Council will be farewelling Emilio Reale following his resignation from the position of General Manager, after four years in the role.

Mr Reale was appointed to General Manager of the Huon Valley Council by commissioner Adriana Taylor in February 2017.

Council wishes Mr Reale the very best in his new role as Director of Infrastructure and Works at Glenorchy City Council, where he has worked previously as former Director of City Services and Infrastructure.

Mr Reale’s last day at Council will be decided at the next Council Meeting on 31 March, in closed council, during which the recruitment process for Council’s new General Manager will also be discussed.

“I can say with confidence that the Huon Valley Council is in an excellent position to continue to deliver quality services for the community and support the social and economic wellbeing of the local people.”

Mr Reale said he is proud of how far the Council has come over the past four years.

“I hope my legacy will be the position of unity and stability the Council has achieved following the 2016 Board of Enquiry, with the merging of a new Council and new Executive Leadership Team,” said Mr Reale.

“By June 2019, we delivered on all Ministerial Directions provided by the Board of Enquiry. We have supported our community to respond to and recover from several severe weather events, the 2018 floods, 2019 summer bushfires, and the 2020 pandemic.

“We have come through stronger on the other end, and I can say with confidence that the Huon Valley Council is in an excellent position to continue to deliver quality services for the community and support the social and economic wellbeing of the local people.

“I have enjoyed and valued this time spent back in the Huon Valley, working in this beautiful part of the world.

“The future of the Valley is bright, with so many positive initiatives, programs and collaborations happening locally to support ongoing economic growth and social connection.

“I extend my thanks to the Council staff for your hard work, excellent efforts and ongoing dedication to the success of the Huon Valley Council. I also thank Councillors for their commitment to the community.”

Huon Valley Council Acting Mayor Sally Doyle thanks Mr Reale for his commitment and significant contributions to the Council and community over the past four years.

“On behalf of my fellow Councillors and Council staff, I wish Emilio every success in his new role,” said Cr Doyle.

“Emilio is well-respected and fondly regarded as General Manager. He has set the Council up for success into the future and created a positive and supportive work environment for Council employees.

“Glenorchy City Council is certainly fortunate to regain Emilio as a member of its Executive Leadership Team.”
