The Department of State Growth is reviewing the current speed limit at Deep Bay, Channel Highway.
The Department is applying to the Transport Commissioner to reduce the speed limit along the Channel Highway at Deep Bay from 80 km/h to 60 km/h for 1.3 kilometres from south of Chuter Street to south of Cliffords Road.
Huon Valley Council and residents of Deep Bay support lowering the speed limit to make it safer for vehicles to safely turn out of accesses and for pedestrians to safely cross the road.
The Channel Highway at Deep Bay has growing residential characteristics including increased vehicle and pedestrian activities. Research tells us that even small reductions of 10 km/h in travelling speeds can lead to a 25 percent reduction in serious casualties.
Once the Transport Commissioner has reviewed the speed limit change you will be notified of the outcome..
If you have any questions or comments about the speed limit change please contact us at RoadsTas@stategrowth.tas.gov.au by Friday April 5 2019.
