Huon Valley Council is committed to improving its approach to community engagement and communication. The Council at is September 2018 Ordinary meeting adopted a Communication and Engagement Policy and Community Engagement Framework. This Policy and Framework have been developed and shaped in collaboration with Huon Valley community members and Huon Valley Council employees.
The Huon Valley Council is committed to ensuring good governance and an approach to engagement that goes beyond the basic legal obligations and acts in the best interest of the community. The Council will undertake community engagement in accordance with the 6 Community Engagement Principles set out in the Policy.
The engagement approach for all Council engagement processes will be guided by the Core Values and Code of Ethics of the International Association of Public Participation’s (IAP2) Spectrum of Public Participation.
