Have Your Say

Town Team Movement

What do you want for the future of your town? It’s time to get involved and make it happen!

Now’s the time to share your ideas for what you want to see and do in your town to make it a more active, connected and vibrant place.

We’ll be discussing this and how the community can help make it happen in 2021. One of the approaches is to form a Town Team – a group of local residents, landowners and businesses working together to improve their place.

There are already 54 teams around Australia, with opportunities for Town Teams to form in locations around the Valley in 2021!

The Town Team model brings businesses and residents together to share ideas and work collaboratively to improve their local area, with the support of the council.

The Town Team approach is inclusive, creative and fun, with opportunities to connect with town teams in neighbouring areas. You can read more about it on the Town Team Movement website.

April 2021

Huonville’s first-ever Pitch and Vote night was held in the evening on Wednesday 21 April at the Grand Hotel. Four pitches presented their ideas and the night was attended by approximately 40 people. Each pitch was given 5 minutes to present their idea and answer any questions regarding their project.

The four pitches were:

  • Rumour has it – Kombi Krew
  • While We Sleep, Another World Awakes – Jenny Cambers-Smith
  • Community Garden – Libraries Tasmania (Huonville)
  • Huonville Treasure Hunt – Future Common

Follow the presentations everyone enjoyed a small meal and there was some great conversations and networking. All that attend voted for their favourite project and the winner was:

  • Community Garden – Libraries Tasmania (Huonville)

Now the fun starts so watch this page for further updates.

February 2021

Following the successful initial stage of engagement with the community we are now hosting two interactive and fun community events to discuss how local people and business can help make Huonville even better.
