In 2008 Inspiring Place consultants were commissioned to prepare a Master Plan for the Dover Foreshore.

A number of components of the Master Plan had been completed with the closure of the Esplanade Road, one of the last remaining actions.

At the Huon Valley Council Dover Community Information Session held in March 2018, requests were received to continue with the implementation of the Master Plan. As the Master Plan is now 10 years old, prior to implementing the closure, Council wished to ensure the community was still supportive for the closure of Esplanade Road.  More details can be viewed here on the Dover Foreshore Master Plan or the Concept For Esplanade Road, Dover.

Council then sought feedback from the community in March/April 2019 about this stage of the Master Plan.

STATUS UPDATE JUNE 2019:

The Dover Foreshore Consultation – Esplanade Road was presented to Council at the Ordinary Meeting on 22 May 2019.  In the report it was identified that community did not support the closure of Esplanade Road. It was recommended to Council that the concept design be withdrawn and no further action to be taken.
