The Council’s Rural Health Unit coordinates a range of health services and programs for Huon Valley residents, including:
- Rural Health Week activities
- Seniors health initiatives
- Youth health programs
- Health promotion activities
The Council works closely with the Australian and Tasmanian government health authorities.
Heart Foundation Walking Groups in the Huon Valley – Coordinated and promoted by Huon Valley Council
The major objective of Walking Groups is to provide a free and ongoing support system to encourage people of all ages, to be involved in physical activity and do some gentle exercise.

The walking program is free and is funded by the Huon Valley Council and operated through the Rural Primary Health Services Program.
