Huon Valley Council owns and operates Retirement Villages in the Huon Valley at the following locations:

The cottages are fully self-contained with their own individual garden area. Tenants are responsible for all outgoings i.e. electricity, water and sewerage, telephone rental, and contents insurance.
The cottages provide the opportunity for residents to retain their independence without the inconvienence of maintaining a proprety or the uncertainty of a private rental market.
Cottages are within walking distance to all services including post offices, supermarkets, banks, chemists, doctors and libraries.
The cottages are available to eligible residents aged 55 years and over, who have retired from full time employment.
Cottages are rented under the Retirement Villages Act 2004.
A 49 year lease is available for the cottage. Incoming tenants pay the full market value (current independat valuation). This money is kept in reserve attracting an annual fee with the remainder of the funds returned upon vacation.
There is a low weekly maintenance fee which covers building insurance, general upkeep, maintenance and lawn mowing. Residents are reponsible for all outgoings, such as electricity, telephone line rental, water and sewerage charges, and contents insurance.
Upon vacation, the cottage is revalued with the tenant and the Huon Valley Council sharing any profit on the original valuation on a 50/50 basis.
The entrance fee amount may be negotiated with the Council if financial hardship can be determinded.
Applications for cottages are assessed by a selection committee when a vacancy arises.
