Outside School Hours Care

After School Care is provided for children from school age 5 to 12 years at a secure, central location in Huonville.

The operating hours are between 3.00pm to 6.00pm Monday to Friday (excluding publich holidays) during public school terms.

There is a large enclosed play area with an open, interesting indoor area where children can relax, undertake their homework or take part in activities. We have a relaxed program to meet diversity of needs involved with having children in an age range fromĀ 5 to 12 years. Afternoon tea is provided as part of the program and is included in the fee's.

Huonville school children are collected from the Huonville Primary School and also the Huonville High School bus park, other schools from throughout the Huon are catered for with children able to be collected from designated bus stops from surrounding school.

Outside School Hours Care aims to:

  • to provide a warm, caring and nuturing environment.
  • for children to feel they are special and that they belong.
  • to provide opportunities for children to develop their self-esteem and confidence through making decisions and seeing their ideas and requests implemented.
  • for children to be relaxed and have opportunities to make new friends and to develop friendships within the group.
  • to provide regular opportunities for socialization/interactions amoungst the group and within the local community.
  • to encourage children to develop and voice their own opinions whilst also listening to opinions and thoughts of others.
  • to provide a curriculum that is child-centred, play-orientated and adult guided, rather than adult dominated.
  • to provide play experiences that support self-motivated learning, problem solving, social skills, creativity and curiosity.
  • to assist children to learn how to learn as they learn, by taking children's play ideas and using them to nudge, challenge or guide each child in ways that expand their own capacity to learn in turn increasing their confidence in themselves as learners.
  • to provide opportunities for children to develop their self-esteem and confidence through making decisions and seeing their ideas and requests implemented.
  • for children and staff to respect each other and children to achieve self discipline.
  • for children, staff and families to communicate effectively with one another.
  • for children to have responsibility for their behaviors and actions.
  • for each child's needs, interests and abilities to be catered for on a daily basis.
  • to provide play spaces that are creative, exciting and aesthetically pleasing.
  • to provide effective orientation procedures for families, staff and students, offering a support network of information and resources.
  • to provide healthy, nutritous food choices and to encourage children to select nutritious food choices of their own.
  • to encourage children to respect their environment.
