Traffic conditions have changed at the Huon Highway Summerleas Road intersection. All traffic has moved onto the temporary side road located adjacent to the existing highway. This will allow for the second stage of work to commence which involves major excavations for the bridge construction.
All existing movements in and around the intersection, including turning into Summerleas Road, will still be available with minimal impact to traffic flow.
The temporary side road will be in place until early next year when traffic is moved across to the new bridge for the final stages of work.
Speed restrictions and altered traffic conditions will continue to be in place throughout the construction period. These are necessary for the safety of workers and road users, so please slow down, approach the work site with caution and follow all traffic control instructions.
As part of the second stage of works, existing bus stops at the Summerleas interchange will be moved to the final location, approximately 1.0 kilometre north, at the existing pedestrian underpass. The bus stops are being relocated for the safety of pedestrians and road users.
Further information about the project, including location map and bus stop location map, are available on the Department of State Growth website: http://www.transport.tas.gov.au/road/projects
